On the lands of Merlin, rising up from the heart of the 15,000 hectares of the Compiegne Forest is the majestic silhouette of the fairytale Pierrefonds Castle.

The castle was built in the 14th century and was restored by Viollet Le Duc in the 19th  century.

In the Chateau of Compiegne, Castle of 2 emperors, 3 museums are hosted: the apartments themselves, the Museum of the Second Empire and the National Car Museum, with a collection of carriages, bicycles and automobiles. Compiegne located on the edge of the forest is a marvelous mix of culture, nature and historical heritage.  Hiking in one of the most beautiful  forests of France, strolling in the park full of flowers behind the castle  and on the Alley of Beaux- Monts are just a few of the numerous outings  in and around Compiegne, offering visitors, inhabitants and the students of the University of Compiegne a wonderful environment to discover and to live in !
